(Yicai Global) Nov. 27 -- Xiong Qingyun, former senior vice president of JD.com Inc. [NASDAQ:JD], has announced his formal appointment with internet electric car company Guangzhou Xiaopeng Motors Technology Co. (Xiaopeng Motors).

A top executive with Procter & Gamble Co. [NYSE:PG], Xiong Qingyun formerly served as president of the company's cosmetic division in Greater China.

He joined JD.com in 2015 to promote the firm's brand upgrade. He is now assuming the post of chief marketing officer responsible for brand building, marketing, channel construction and other areas. Formally established in May 2017, Xiaopeng Motors has pulled in multiple executives and experts from internet companies. Dr. Xu Jihan, who worked as Vice President in Fisker Inc. and as chief engineer with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. [SHA:601238] joined Xiaopeng Motors as technology vice president this year. He Xiaopeng, who served as president of the mobile business group and board chairman of Alibaba Games under Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA] took the post of board chairman of Xiaopeng Motors in August. Liu Minghui, former vice president of the technology research institute in China FAW Group Corp., works at Xiaopeng Motors as vice president, and Gu Junli and Ren Xiaopeng, former core experts on artificial intelligence in Tesla Inc. [NASDAQ:TSLA] and leaders in automatic drive in autopilot, have also joined Xiaopeng Motors as vice president of the automatic driving research and development division, all coming aboard last month.

Xiaopeng Motors secured USD330 million (CNY2.2 billion) in A-round financing in June. As the first internet car company in China to achieve mass production, Xiaopeng Motors manufactures its sport-utility vehicles in Zhengzhou, capital of East China's Henan province.
