(Yicai Global) Oct. 24 -- Apple Inc. [NASDAQ:AAPL] is reportedly looking to add a 3D camera module to its rear camera lens to facilitate the application of virtual and augmented reality in future iPhone models, CNMO, an online media outlet specializing in smartphones, reported yesterday.
Representatives from Apple recently visited two factories owned by Chinese glass lens manufacturers, heightening speculation that rear 3D camera lens technology may be added to future versions of the flagship handset.
The use of a 3D camera lens is also able to boost the phone's heat resistance, and could have been a key consideration for the company during the visits.
