(Yicai Global) Dec. 5 -- China's mainland stock markets extended their gains in afternoon trading, with blockchain companies leading gains as the country held its first ministerial forum on the island of Hainan today.
The Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.74 percent higher at 2,899.47, while the Shenzhen Component Index was finished at 9,799.07, up 1.15 percent. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, ended the day up 2.15 percent at 1,709.83.
The Hainan Free Trade Port International Cooperation Forum on Digital Economy and Blockchain took place in provincial capital Haikou today, with digital figureheads and hundreds of experts from more than a dozen countries in attendance.
