(Yicai Global) April 11 -- Boeing has brought its 737 Max flight simulator to its Shanghai training center to fulfill the promise of improving pilot training for the aircraft in China after two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019 led to it being grounded worldwide.

The US plane maker has installed the 737 Max Flight Training Device at its training hub at Shanghai Pudong International Airport to better support the operations of Chinese airlines, the Civil Aviation Resource Net of China reported today.

Forty-three of the aircraft had resumed operations in China as of yesterday, making up 45 percent of the total. Eleven domestic carriers are now flying routes with the 737 Max after China Southern Airlines became the first to do so in January.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China temporarily grounded the 737 Max in March 2019. Better pilot training was one of the three conditions the watchdog set for the Boeing 737 Max to return to the skies over China.

Chinese airlines have a number of 737 Max on order. China Southern is awaiting 43 and other carriers, including Shandong Airlines and China Eastern Airlines, are expected to take delivery of more than 70.
