(Yicai Global) Oct. 23 -- Chemical firm Befar Group will transform its refrigerants production line to become more environmentally friendly.

Befar will invest CNY34.8 million (USD5 million) to upgrade its factory with a new line of difluoromethane to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the Shandong province-based firm said in a statement yesterday. The firm will have an annual output of 10,000 tons of the chemical and use fixed assets to cover part of the total project funding of CNY81.8 million.

Difluoromethane, also known as R32, has an excellent thermodynamic performance and zero ozone depletion potential.

The average sales income of the new production line is expected to be CNY180 million per year, with an average annual net profit of CNY18 million.
