(Yicai Global) Aug. 18 - China trimmed its US treasury holdings by USD9.3 billion to USD1.07 trillion in June, but remained the US’s second-largest creditor country, per data the US Department of the Treasury released yesterday.

China raised its reserves by USD8.7 billion in January, USD13.7 billion in February and USD10.9 billion in May and cut them by USD10.7 billion in March and USD8.8 billion in April.

Foreign US treasury holders stocked USD7.04 trillion in June, up USD176.2 billion from May to a four-month high.

Japan hiked its holdings by USD900 million in June to USD1.26 trillion to cling to the top slot. It pared USD6.1 billion in May. Its island neighbor overtook China to become the US’s first largest creditor country in June last year.

The UK, the US’s third-largest creditor nation, snipped its holdings by USD200 million to USD445.6 billion in June. It raised its stake by USD22.3 billion in May last year and surpassed Brazil to become the US’s third-largest creditor.
