(Yicai Global) June 20 -- Shares of Chinese clean energy company GCL System Integration Technology surged after the firm said that its Australian solar panel unit has secured AUD51 million (USD35.5 million) in financing from a renowned equity investment institution.

GCL's stock price [SHE:002506] closed up 10 percent at CNY3.69 (55 US cents) today. The shares are 13 percent up in value in the past 12 months.

VNTR XXI Holdings, a unit of Hillhouse Investment Management, offers AUD27 million to purchase a 15 percent stake in One Stop Warehouse, the Shanghai-based supplier said in a statement yesterday. After the transfer, the affiliate of Asia-focused Hillhouse Capital Group will invest another AUD24 million in the target company.

The offer proves the unit's valuation has soared during the past six years amid robust demand. GCL paid AUD9.69 million (USD6.8 million) to acquire a 51 percent stake in One Stop Warehouse in 2016. The share sale should bring good returns on GCL's investment, expected to improve the parent's earnings this year, it said.

GCL will remain to be the largest shareholder of Woodridge-registered One Stop Warehouse, one of Australia's leading distributed solar energy generation service providers, with its 32.1 percent stake in it. Meanwhile, VNTR XXI will become One Stop Warehouse's second-biggest shareholder with nearly 25.8 percent of the equity.

After introducing the strategic investor, One Stop Warehouse aims to expand its successful business model to Europe and other overseas regions via VNTR XXI's advantageous resources in the capital market, per the statement.
