(Yicai Global) July 23 -- Chinese stock markets closed in a jumble today. The ChiNext Price Index rose on bargain hunting, while Shanghai's main board recovered the most ground it lost in the morning.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed down 0.23 percent to 3,325.37. The Shenzhen Component Index inched up 0.03 percent to 13,661.5.

The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprise in Shenzhen, rose 1.11 percent to 2,799.67.

The SSE Science and Technology Innovation Board 50 Index, which launched after yesterday's close, slipped 0.21 percent to 1,494.14.
