(Yicai Global) Jan. 20 -- China's mainland stock markets finished the morning session higher due to bargain hunting after yesterday's declines. The ChiNext Price Index led the group of gainers.

The ChiNext, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, surged 2.94 percent to 3,175.14. The Shenzhen Component Index climbed 0.88 percent to 15,136.68.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed up 0.01 percent to 3,566.67. The Star Market Board 50 Index rose 1.37 percent to 1,463.76.
