(Yicai Global) Aug. 16 -- German chemical giant BASF and Chinese carmaker FAW Group will join hands to develop lighter, safer, and more environmentally friendly vehicles for the Chinese market in northeastern Jilin province, the Ludwigshafen-based firm said in a statement today.

BASF is also collaborating with the National Agro-tech Extension and Service Center in Jilin to help local farmers to reduce the use of pesticides and fertilizers, as well as bring more advanced agricultural technologies to the region.
