Medics Battle the Wuhan Virus in Its Lair Medics Battle the Wuhan Virus in Its Lair

(Yicai Global) Feb. 13 -- Pic 1: Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus epidemic, the once bustling streets of Wuhan's Wuchang district have been deserted and traces of humanity have all but disappeared from the city's emblematic riverside Yellow Crane Tower eulogized in so many Tang poems. Yet behind these desolate scenes, armored in white scrubs, visors and masks, medical personnel are waging a desperate life-and-death battle against the demon virus. The photo shows medics fighting to save one victim of the scourge.

At Wuhan's Leishenshan Hospital -- whose name means 'Thunder God Mountain' in Chinese -- medics cheer a patient, inspiring her to carry on the fight to victory.

A pregnant lady surnamed Chen infected in both lungs and running a 38.5-degree fever was rushed to Tongji Hospital affiliated to Huazhong University of Science and Technology where she immediately underwent a surgical procedure and has now successfully given birth to a healthy baby.

Medics at the city's Pulmonary Disease Hospital succor a patient clinging by a thread in Intensive Care.

A medical staffer at Wuhan's Red Cross Hospital supports his aching waist as he walks haltingly along a corridor. Healthcare professionals on the frontline wearing sealed suits and laboring intensively have no way to drink water or go to the toilet, and are only able to snatch a brief moment of rest on the rare occasions when they are able to eat.
