Shanghai Sends Six Kids Who Beat Covid-19 Home, Four Remain in Hospital Shanghai Sends Six Kids Who Beat Covid-19 Home, Four Remain in Hospital

(Yicai Global) Feb. 20 -- Shanghai has discharged six out of the eastern city's 10 kids who have contracted the new coronavirus, the youngest of whom is seven months old.

The baby healed fully as her lungs had not been seriously injured, Shanghai Morning Post reported, citing Zeng Mei, infectious disease department director at the Children's Hospital of Fudan University.

The new type of coronavirus has claimed 2,121 lives in China while it may take more than a year to develop a vaccine to particularly protect at-risk populations against the respiratory illness.

Although none of the child patients have relapsed, the family members of these kids should pay attention to good hygiene to stay safe, the report added. All the discharged Covid-19 patients must stay under home quarantine for 14 days, during which time doctors check on them every few days.

The remaining four patients are still at the same Fudan University hospital. Two more children are under medical observation due to suspected infections.
