(Yicai Global) Dec. 5 -- Pony Ma, founder of Chinese internet titan Tencent Holdings Ltd. [HK:0700], has turned his attention to the popular strategy survival shooter game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) that PUBG Corp. developed.

When asked if he plays King of Glory, a game Tencent developed, Ma said that he has not played it much and that his current focus is on PUBG. Tencent is building its presence in the gaming industry and working to offer more to players, Ma said at the fourth World Internet Conference yesterday.

Tencent said last week that it would release the Chinese version of PUBG, a game that Ma has repeatedly expressed interest in.

Ma played PUBG with Ding Lei, founder of Chinese gaming giant NetEase Inc. [NASDAQ:NTES], at a private dinner on the sidelines of the conference, a person who attended the dinner party told Yicai Global.

Tencent and NetEase are among the world's top 10 game companies. Tencent's first-half game revenue was USD7.374 billion, while that of NetEase was USD2.904 billion.
