(Yicai Global) April 3 -- Shares in Tencent Holdings [HKG:0700] hit a new eight-month high this morning after the internet titan gained approvals for a new mobile game based on hit show Game of Thrones.
Stocks in the Shenzhen-based firm were 2.6 percent higher at CNY375.6 (USD55.9) as of 10.00 a.m., the highest point since July 23 last year.
The new game, based on popular HBO series Game of Thrones, will conclude in its final season starting on 14 April. The game has been developed by Shanghai-based Youzu Interactive and Tencent is the exclusive agent.
The GOT game received the license along with 29 other titles that were the first batch of import games to get the greenlight since last March.
