(Yicai Global) Nov. 22 -- The first batch of Tesla Model 3 made in its Shanghai mega-plant is already being showcased in its experience stores in China as well as at the Guangzhou international Auto Show which runs from today until Dec. 1.

The new vehicle is an upgraded version of the Model 3 equipped with fully automatic driving ability, the Shanghai Observer reported.

Tesla's first overseas Gigafactory, which started construction in the eastern Chinese metropolis in January, is the biggest foreign-funded manufacturing project in the city's history. It also marks the first new energy vehicle project for which the municipal government canceled foreign ownership restrictions. It rolled out its first units early this month and is expected to run at a weekly production clip of about 3,000 vehicles. 

The Palo Alto, California-based electric vehicle maker announced pre-sales of the China-produced Model 3 produced stickered at CNY355,800 (USD51,000) on Oct. 25.
