(Yicai Global) Nov. 13 -- US electric scooter sharer Lime has issued a recall notice for a certain model made by Chinese firm Okai due to concerns that they can break apart during use.

Lime is "looking into reports that scooters manufactured by Okai may break and [is] working cooperatively with the US. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the relevant authorities internationally to get to the bottom of this," the California-based company said in response to a Washington Post report without revealing how many of its products were affected.

"Safety is Lime's highest priority," the firm said. "The vast majority of Lime's fleet is manufactured by other companies and decommissioned Okai scooters are being replaced with newer, more advanced scooters considered best in class for safety."

The firm doesn't anticipate any interruptions to its services. Lime last issued a recall on scooters at the end of October due to fire safety.

Founded in 2006 in Zhejiang province, Okai produces and sells various kinds of scooters. The company did not respond to Yicai Global for a statement.
