(Yicai Global) Sept. 19 -- Shenzhen Bus Group Co. will start operating two driverless bus routes by the end of this year.

Shenzhen Bus Group is cooperating with the National Intelligent Transport Systems Center of Engineering and Technology and Huawei Technologies Co. to develop autonomous driving tools, Shenzhen Bus Group President Yu Gang said at the opening ceremony of Car-Free Day 2017 in Shenzhen.

They plan to roll out self-driving buses on two routes at the Southern University of Science and Technology and other test sites, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported today.

Shenzhen Bus Group will keep exploring the development of smart buses by constantly improving its intelligent scheduling system, making it easier to obtain bus route planning and real-time vehicle information through mobile phones, Yu said. The firm will develop autonomous driving technologies and trial driverless routes to advance intelligent traffic management and the smart transportation industry ecosystem, while providing a better passenger experience.
